Theme
Theme is a central idea or message in the story. The theme of "Eragon" is to be true to yourself and believe in yourself, that you can do anything if you set your mind to it. An example is when Eragon first started his journey. He was very weak and scrawny, and could only do farm work. As he was training with Brom, he believed that he could beat him, and pushed his limits. And he did so, and overcame Brom. Eragon stuck true to himself and believed, just as the theme states.

Conflict
In the book, "Eragon", the main protagonist has internal, as well as external conflict. One example of his internal conflict is when Eragon does things out of anger or other intense feelings. He and Saphira battle through these mistakes and as the story goes on, more is said about how Eragon restrained himself. An example of external conflict is when Eragon is constantly being hunted by the king. Eragon must constantly dodge his troops, fight his minions, and work with his enemies to battle the King.

Motif
A recurring motif in Eragon is self-confidence and courage. The theme of "Eragon" is to be true to yourself and believe in yourself, and that's why the motif is courage and self-confidence. Throughout the story Eragon does what everyone thinks is impossible. From being a farm boy to a Rider, he's had courage and self-confidence that mostly no one else had. One example is when they had to cross the desert to meet the Varden to save a rare elf. Eragon pursued and believed that he could save her. So in the end, Eragon had the guts to continue as a Rider, and to defeat the King Galbotorix.

Book Review
The book, "Eragon", is a fantasy novel about a 15 year old farm boy who finds a mysterious egg, which contained a dragon, and went on an adventure to train as one of the Riders of Alagaesia. My opinion of this book is that its a great book to read and that it has an AMAZING plot line. I give this a rating of 4.5 Whoupie Goldbergs out of 5. Students who should read this book is 6th grade and up. There is a bit of gore and words that would not suit the audience below middle school. I suggest that the reader should be 11 and up, Overall, Eragon is a excellent choice of a book, with an amazing plot line. I definitely recommend this book!
